THE VINEYARDS, THE MILKY WAY & SOME WEAPONS!

Heading to the Beqaa valley!

Saturday July 11, 2020, we head to the Beqaa valley with the main objective of taking a photograph of the Milky Way above the vineyards of Domaine des Tourelles and Arak Brun.

Prior to the weekend, we’ve taken a permission from the winery’s team to enter the land and stay there for some time during the night in order to take the photograph. We reached there in the afternoon… the road trip is enchanting and strolling in Ammiq is always pleasant.

We visited the village and the one next to it, called Hosh Ammiq, discovered very nice spots which might be potential locations to take night landscape with the Milky Way.

Time’s up! We need to head back to the vineyards for a test shot and pick the right spot serving my composition. And that’s what we’ve done. I parked the car by the road and placed my tripod started with a test shot:

While still on the side of the street doing my test shots, a municipality guy stopped guy asking questions: What we are doing here? Who did we take permission from? Then telling us the story of an accident which took place a night before including fire guns… After taking my ID, full name and phone number, he confirmed that we can get in and that he’ll be back soon.

Jessica Rahhal stayed in the car waiting for the municipality guy to come back and I’ve headed to the vineyards…

Around 10 minutes after that, a movie-like scene happened: The owners of the land came with their guards, holding weapons, surrounding the car then coming my way from all directions!

Explaining again what we’re doing there, they left us alone… Here are the two photographs from that night…
